"One, two; buckly my shoe, three, four; shut the door..." Sequences
of data can be learned by rote, by repeating them over and over, by "stamping"
them "in", although exactly what they get stamped into has not yet been
determined. It's easier if the data can be associated with rhymes and rhythms.
It's even easier if it can be done by suggestion - that is, by offering it
directly to the subconscious, the storehouse of memory.
A lot of tabular data is worth committing to memory, because we are constantly
needing to refer to it much more rapidly than we could by referring to the pages of a
book. Example: the multiplication tables.
Then there are poems and passages, lines from plays, stirring speeches, funny stories,
license and serial numbers....
Super-learning is based on the Yoga idea of lowering your heart rate to achieve
greater mental acuity and on hypnotic techniques for diverting your conscious
attention and focusing your subconscious attention on the material you have chosen
to memorize, quickly and effortlessly.
The Super-learning program in MyHypnotist also provides means of viewing on your
screen or printing out "test patterns" of the text you're memorizing, to
help you test your progress.
